Rehearsal with Ms. Beckie

Posted on February 27, 2011 with 0 comments
Just had a wonderful rehearsal with the incredible Beckie Menzie for our upcoming show at Metropolis, and though she was booked solid, we just made music, our favorite thing to do.  BTW, her arr. of "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me" is amazing.
Daryl Nitz and I ran Couple of Swells, as he is used to George singing the other part and I am used to Mark, so now I'm George and he's Mark, and you'll find us off walking up the avenue!

Showcase Spider & Tommy

Went down to the Jazz Showcase for a FREE concert Wed of Bill Evans music.  Spider Salof, Tommy Muellner, Bob Rummage, Larry Cohut, Bill Overton. Really mellow awesome tunes, and Spider just does it right! Sponsored by WDCB, I wonder if they recorded it....  Ran into cats Eric Schneider, Henry Johnson, Bill Witz, Barry Winograd, etc.  School nights out are the best!

A Cup of Joe

After we played two cabaret shows with Joe Sonnefeldt, Brill Building Sound and Broadway a la` Jazz, we got inspired to play with this piano, percussion, vocal thing, and take it to the streets.  Shot some footage of our rehearsal last week which was hilarious 'cause our piano (dining) room is such that the camera was in the bathroom, in order to get us all in the frame!  Sent it out to a couple of clubs to see if they bite on this mellow groove combo. Cross fingers!

We just gotta thank everyone who came to Maxim's last week for our new show.  You jammed into that place, and packed the room!  We totally enjoyed singing all those 60's hits for you and with you. Thanks to the jazz & cabaret folks who came too, and when we were going aorund introducing all the famous people, we couldn't see miss Jen over the corner, so big thanks to JEN ZIAS for coming! and all the rest of you - you know who you are. It's always great to have fellow performers in the house. And Allen Nichols, thank you, we'll see you on the B-side.
Hey flip the record over! Love A&M

Open Mic moves to Old Town Brasserie

Posted on December 15, 2009 with 0 comments
Mark's open mic is moved to Old Town Brasserie. It was at Angelo's, when the manager decided to hop on stage and abruptly send people home. The waitress Brie, so sweet, was majorly pissed and embarrassed by this "class" act. Carla Gordan even cancelled her show there that weekend, which showed courage in this economy turning down a gig. Use caution if you should deal with these folks.
So Joe Freer and Mark team up to start it once a month starting this Thursday 9-12:30 so stop on by.
